In Response To: when should nail extensions be applied? (mona)

i can apply nails to the tinyiest shortest bitten nails.

i do a manicure before i apply enhancements but..i do only waterless manicures and all oils and lotion are applied after the nails are done.

for those wondering why i do a waterless manicure..

when u let the nails soak in water, the water soaks in the nail plate and plumps it up. as the water dries the nail is left with microscopic gaps in the layers of the plate. every time water is added it makes the gaps a little bigger and works like ice in rocks. soon you will have little flakey peels peeling up from the tops of your nails.

instead when u do a manicure

1 file nails when dry no sawing

2 use a cuticle oil or cream and a good exfoliant (sugar and almond/ricebran oil is
nice)

3 rinse

if applying polish

4 give each nail plate a quick scrub with an alcohol pad

5 apply base and 2-3 thin coats of polish(dont forget to do the free edge) one coat of topcoat(again dont forget the free edge)

6 the next day add one more coat of clear topcoat( free edge)

i do this and my clients colour last for 10 days or more
