Gothic Nail Care Forum Do I have a fungus? Posted By: elizabeth I have had acrylic nails for approximately 3 months and have not had any problems until about a week ago. The last fill appt. I had, a few of my nails were almost completely white (stark white) underneath the acrylic when the polish was taken off. I should have had the acrylic taken off right away but I was told to wait a week (I go in for a polish change in between fills) and see how they looked. Before the week had passed, my nails started to seperate from the nail bed. I took the acrylic off myself (soaked them in pure acetone) and now almost all (6 out of 10) have this stark white coloration and are seperated from the nail bed. They look absolutely horrible. I have an appt. later this week w/ my doctor to see if I have a major infection or fungus or both. My questions are, does anyone know what this is, what is the cause and how is it treated? I would be most appreciative of any information anyone could provide. Thank you.
