How to keep breaking at bay

Ok heres the deal i am growing out my nails and i am a very active person I wrestle with my friends alot and i try to keep my hands in "paw" for while i do it but i need for tips to keep my nails from breaking i had them grown out once and it took me along time to get them as long as they were and i broke my middle finger nail and almost screamed I knew it was my fault so now i am going to be careful. Help? Please?
