i think that this is actually a biological defense thingy. like, motherly instinct kind of thing from our genes from our ancestors. knowing that you have a child growing inside of you, your body helps you to house this being at the best of your ability and giving you the stronger nails to fight for your safety and that of your unborn child. even though we dont exactly need our nails to fight for food or defend ourselves from animals (like they would have like a million years ago) but alot of things happen that are not exactlly needed/useful in life (a.k.a. the apendex lol).
