how i can i keep my nails long

As i work in a factory,and use my hands quite a lot is it possible for me to keep my nails long with-out breaking them,as i have regular manicures,where i get my nails painted,as i take care of my appearance,as i like to wear a nice colour,after all why should you girls have all the fun,it seems a shame im penalised for being a man.
