Acrylic nails and typing

arg! I splurged and got "false" acrylic nails (tips) and I have a hard time typing. any tips? Also, can I file the nail down or do they have to do that since they ar false?

How much does it usually cost to take them off? I lik them but typing is hard and I type a lot at work!
