Nail care tips.

I'm a Pagan, a Witch, and a career nail techician, and I own and run a day spa.
I had something I would like to add to your Emergency Repairs section. Cristina recommends using a cotton ball that is stretched out. I find that a nail-sized piece of a single layer of Kleenex or toilet paper (pull the tissue layers apart) to be much more efficient, and easier to access if on the go, especially when a snag or crack happens on your natural nail when you're out and about.
Start by putting a fine layer of super-glue (or nail strengthener or whatever you've got--the glue will last longer, though) all over the nail, put the tissue on top of it, and then put another layer of glue or what-have-you over it. Buff VERY lightly with the fine side of a cardboard file or a block buffer if you choose, but it's not necessary. (You can take the glue off later with acetone polish remover.)
I also recommend to all my clients that they take daily calcium supplements (Viactiv is wonderful, and tasty too!), as well as daily biotin supplements. In 2-3 weeks, their nails will grow out much stronger.
OPI Nail Envy is hands-down THE best nail strengthener I've ever seen. Put two coats on clean, dry nails, then put on another coat either every day or every other day, depending on the level of brittleness of the nails. After about 7-10 days, take it off with non-acetone polish remover and start over. In 3 weeks, your nails will be much stronger and healthier.
Later!
