I'm unsure how old you are, but after a certain age(maybe late teens), your nails are pretty much settled for life.

You have done the right thing by stopping the biting as continuing that would further make your nail bed(the bit that sticks to the skin) shorter. And I congratulate you on that.

Now to be utterly realistic here, your nail bed might grow about 1 mm in length(if you remember to leave at least 2 mm comfort space when cutting your nails), but not much afterwards.

That though, can be worked on if you want to create the illusion of perfect nails in a manicure. Remember, first you have to TAKE CARE OF WHAT YOU'VE GOT-and remember to grow the nail at least up to your fingertip(longer than the fingertip if you want a nail bed + moon look).

You should maybe invest in a nail colour that is nearest to your nail bed color. You might even want to mix a few different colors to customise it. Tip: NEVER MIX 2 NAIL POLISHES TOGETHER if one is the normal type, and the other is "Peel off" nail polish-THAT WOULD DESTROY THE MIX, MKING IT UNUSABLE. I have thrown away some nail polishes because of this.

Once you've gotten the shade right, you should use it as the french pink in a french manicure,

If you dont know what I mean,
1) coat your entire nail with the mixed shade. wait till dry (5 minutes at least)
2)repeat untill line between the "moon" of each finger and the nail bed is invisible. remember to wait for each coat to dry before application of the next coat. I suggest you do thin coats. they dry faster.
3) do a top coat to finalise it if your nail isnt longer than your fingertip or do step 4.
4) observe the bits where your nail looks like it should be a "moon" and try to paint that in(with white nail polish or maybe you could be creative here) one or two strokes should be enough if done properly. this is usually easier if your nails are over 2 mm longer than your fingertip.

Another approach is to use french manicure tape to ensure a perfectly "curved" look. just put the tape on where appropriate, and paint the filler(white or other color of choice) on. wait for this to dry, and then remove the tape.

The problem with french tape however, is that the "curve" may not fit your finger type.

Be your own judge here- you might even be able to cut your own using stickytape and a pair of curved cuticle scissors. It just depends what you're comfortable with.

Hope this helps.
