Some larger beauty supply stores sell thinner.. I'd go with that to ensure you don't ruin the polish. I just buy new polish when it begins to get sticky.

As for changing polish alot, nail polish remover can make the nail dry and brittle so try to avoid acetone and the like. Try just painting over the old color when you can.
