Well in this case, after an exhausting internet search, plowing through pages & pages of OSHA warnings on Pentac, I decided to consult w/ my podiatrist referral connection that I use for my nail clients. Doc says that Ciclopirox, which is the same as Lamasil (yes, the same as the med on those annoying "barefoot, without embarassment" commercials)is an antifungal PRESCRIPTION med in this country. It has never been FDA approved in this country (hence, your orrigional refference to a German Pharmacutical Co.) for topical use. It is prescribed in pill form to treat severe toenail fungus, and has many side effects. If your infection is so severe that the usual topical products containing tolnaftate or tolnafoil aren't working, I must reccomend that you see a Doctor. A Podiatrist will be able to properly diagnose your problem and suggest the best course of treatment. PLEASE do not let a severe fungal infection go untreated!! If you are wearing artificial fingernails of any kind, please remove them! A fungal infection spreads throughout the body very rappidly, and can cause many health problems and permanent asthetic dammage!!
