If you can't get to the salon to have your nails removed, you will have to use the same method at home. Depending on what type of acrylic they used, it can be a easy OR difficult. If it is difficult, this means that they used MMA acrylic on you (this is dental porcelain & although it is great for making custom fangs, it is not FDA approved for nail enhancement) Please do not go back there again & PLEASE report them to your state's depoartment of licenceing!!!If they used EMA acrylic on you {YEAH!!!!} the process should take no more than a half hour. You need a cushoned nail file, a glass bowl (that you don't plan to ever put food in again) and some acetone (lensicide). Pour some acetone into the bowl (about an inch) and soak your finger nails in it. And soak.........and soak...........and soak......you get the point. Check the nails about every ten minutes. If they look "gummy", you can carefully remove this with the file. This is the acrylic "melting" off the nail. Please be very careful not to file too roughly. Especially when the acrylic layer gets real thin. Repeat this process until all the acrylic is gone. Afterwards, wash your hands thoroughly and apply LOTS of hand lotion. You may want to use a medicated nail treatment such as Nailtiques, NailTec, Sally Hansen's "hard as nails" or Avon's Nail protein. These are formulated especially for binding the layers of your nail back together after being dried out by artificial nails. Good luck & let us know how it goes!!!!
