My problem is that I really like my nails to be polished black as well as long, hence me wearing false nails. It makes it more awkward for me to show my hands outside, though some girls seem to be really into guys brave enough to do something like this. Not to mention it's harder to do anything with my hands like typing and would be harder to hide. Your idea of leaving out the thumnails sounds good, gloves might also be good so I can pull them off when among accepting people.
