Gothic Nail Care Forum nail separation Posted By: Diane I had gel nails removed about six weeks or so ago. My nails were weak and textured-looking for a while, but other than that, fine. Well...except one thing. I have one nail on my right hand (ring finger) that has separated from the nail bed. Not just a little bit, either. About two-thirds of the nail is separated in the middle, and still attached around the edges.
I have been trying to research this on the internet (how I found this site) but the only solution I can find is to trim away the part that's separated and protect it until it grow back. I have a couple of problems with that. One, I can't see any way to remove the part that's separated without having to rip off the part that isn't (my stomach just flipped). The other problem is that I am a blackjack dealer. I use my right hand to deal and scoop up cards all day long. People look at my hands all day long. I'm not even sure how I could comfortably pick up the cards with a nail removed -- not to mention it being unpleasant for my customers to look at.
Does anyone know of any other solution than removal? I've even considered trying to find some kind of glue to hold my nail down!
Here's another problem: It seemed like the nail was beginning to grow out just fine. I figured I'd keep it trimmed short and eventually more and more of the nail would be attached until all the unattached part grew out. But I bumped my nail or something and I'm back to square one with an almost entirely unattached nail.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
