I also use acrylic paints. My method is to paint the nail with the acrylic then a coat of clear, finally a coat of two of clear top coat. Don't know if this damages my nails though, but it stops that yellow staining you get on nails from too much nail varnish wearing. By the way my favourite is a glossy black, wish I could wear it more openly though since I'm a guy.
